The New York Yankees activated Domingo German from the injured list in advance of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets and optioned left-hander Stephen Tarpley to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
German will start Wednesday in the finale of the brief-two-game interleague series. The 26-year old, who has been out since June 7 with a left hip flexor strain, is 9-2 in 13 games (12 starts) with a 3.86 ERA.
Prior to his June 7 start against the Cleveland Indians, when he gave up four runs on six hits over six innings while taking the loss, he was 6-0 over his previous eight outings.
Tarpley, 26, has made 11 appearances with the Yankees this season, posting a 9.64 ERA. He had his worst outing of the season Sunday against the Boston Red Sox at London, giving up four runs on three home runs in an inning of work.
