Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann is calling it a career.
McCann said after the National League Division Series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals that he's ready to retire. The 35-year-old played 1,755 career games and was part of the 2017 World Series roster of the Houston Astros.
"I had a long career," McCann told reporters Wednesday night. "Fifteen years is a long time catching every day. And I got to do it in my hometown."
A seven-time All-Star selection and six-time Silver Slugger winner who broke into the big leagues with the Braves, McCann was a career .262 hitter with 282 home runs and 1,018 RBI with Braves, Yankees and Astros.
McCann singled in the fifth inning off of Jack Flaherty with the Cardinals up 13-1 for his final hit.
The Braves drafted the Georgia native out of high school in the second round of the 2002 draft. McCann batted .235/.313/.418 with 69 home runs over three seasons in New York.
