Breanna Stewart named Eastern Conference Player of the Week after historic start to 2023 season

Breanna Stewart was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

NEW YORK – MAY 30, 2023 – The WNBA announced that New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 28.

Stewart led New York to a 2-1 to start to the season, including back-to-back home wins over the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun. In the three contests, she averaged 26.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and three steals while shooting 53.2% (25-47) from the field and 45.0% (9-20) from three.

On May 21, Breanna’s career-high 45-point performance in her Barclays Center home debut set the WNBA record for most points in less than 31 minutes, as well as New York Liberty franchise records for single-game scoring and made field goals (15). Additionally, her 78 combined points through three games to open a season and 66 points in a two-game span are both franchise records.

This weekly honor is Stewart’s 11th of her career, her first as a member of the Eastern Conference, and the 49th in Liberty history.
