2018: A Stantonian walk-off

After trailing 5-0 in the fifth inning, the Yankees make a stirring comeback. Gary Sanchez demolishes a game-tying two-run homer off the back wall of the visitors’ bullpen in the eighth inning, and Giancarlo Stanton crushes a line-drive homer to left-center to win it in the ninth. As soon as Stanton makes contact, Mariners reliever Ryan Cook bends over and appears to curse – he knows exactly where the ball is headed. It is Stanton’s first walk-off with the Yankees.

2015: Emotional Old-Timers’ Day

At Old-Timers’ Day, the Yankees hold a ceremony to unveil a plaque in Monument Park for Willie Randolph, and they also surprise former pitcher and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre by dedicating a plaque to him in Monument Park. During the game later, the Yankees defeat the Tigers 14-3 and are led by a five RBI performance from Alex Rodriguez. Also in the game, Carlos Beltran homers from both sides of the plate for the 12th time in his career.

1950: DiMaggio’s 2,00th hit

Joe DiMaggio records his 2,000th career hit off Cleveland reliever Marino Pieretti. He is the first Yankee since Lou Gehrig with 2,000 hits and the third player in franchise history (Babe Ruth). DiMaggio goes 2-for-5 in the game with three RBIs to lead the Yankees to an 8-2 win over the Indians at Cleveland Stadium.
