The New York Yankees will open the 2021 regular season at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, April 1, with a 1:05 p.m. game against the Toronto Blue Jays. All Yankee Stadium gates will open to Guests with valid tickets beginning at 11 a.m.
Pregame ceremonies are set to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., with the introduction of both teams on the baselines.
Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive as early as possible to avoid lines that will increase in length as game time approaches.
Opening Day virtual pregame ceremonies will include “O’ Canada” performed by Broadway star, Paul Nolan, and a virtual color guard featuring The West Point Cadet Color Guard. The virtual national anthem will be performed by West Point Band Vocalist, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Katherine Walsh. The virtual ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Bernie Williams.
Additionally, Moments of Silence will be held for Hank Steinbrenner and Dr. Bobby Brown.
During the seventh-inning stretch, United States Army Sergeant Major MaryKay Messenger, accompanied by the West Point Band, will virtually perform “God Bless America.”
To celebrate the incredible work done by the vaccination staff at Yankee Stadium, representatives of the various organizations collaborating on the effort will be seated in the Judge’s Chambers at Thursday’s Opener. In subsequent games, other frontline healthcare heroes will populate the section.
Overall, the Yankees have won each of their last three Opening Day games. They are facing the Blue Jays on Opening Day for the fifth time and are doing so in the Bronx for the third time.
