The Yankees have claimed RHP Rico Garcia off waivers from the New York Mets.

Garcia, 31, has pitched in two games for the New York Mets in 2025 and has not allowed a run over 4.2 IP (1 H, 3 K). The right-handed pitcher has spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Syracuse, going 0-1 with one save and a 4.45 ERA (30.1 IP, 27 H, 18 R/15 ER, 20 BB, 37 K, 7 HR) in 24 games (two starts). He was designated for assignment on July 11, 2025.

Over parts of five Major League seasons with the Colorado Rockies (2019), San Francisco Giants (2020), Baltimore Orioles (2022), Oakland Athletics (2023), Washington Nationals (2023) and New York Mets (2025), Garcia is 1-2 with a 6.47 ERA (40.1 IP, 50 H, 29 R/ER, 18 BB, 24 K, 11 HR) in 32 games (one start). The Honolulu, Hawaii, native was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 30th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Hawaii Pacific University. Garcia was signed by the Mets as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 11, 2024.
