Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez, who leads American League rookies with 17 home runs, was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday because of a right ulnar nerve contusion.
Jimenez, 23, suffered the injury in an outfield collision in the first inning of Tuesday night's 11-0 loss at the Kansas City Royals. He is batting .244 with 39 RBIs in 67 games.
The White Sox purchased the contract of infielder Ryan Goins from Triple-A Charlotte, where he was hitting .322 with 10 home runs in 83 games. Goins, 31, has appeared in 489 major league games for the Toronto Blue Jays (2013-2017) and Kansas City (2018).
Chicago also outrighted right-handed pitcher Juan Minaya to Charlotte after he had been designated for assignment on Saturday. Minaya, 28, was 0-0 with a 3.90 ERA in 22 games for the White Sox.
