The 36-year-old backstop has spent 14 seasons in the Majors and last appeared in the big leagues for the Colorado Rockies over a 52-game stint in 2019.

A product of the University of North Carolina, Iannetta began his MLB career with the Rockies from 2006-2011 before joining the Angels from 2012-2015.

In 1,197 career games, Iannetta has compiled a career slash line of .230/.345/.406 with 141 homers, 502 RBI and an OPS+ of 98.

Kyle Higashioka remains the leading candidate to serve as the Yankees backup catcher in 2020, but Iannetta and fellow veteran backstop Erik Kratz are also expected to compete for the role when pitchers and catchers first report to camp later next month.

Stay tuned for all the latest news and developments as the Yankees offseason continues.
