Aaron Judge's exploits with the bat are known far and wide among baseball fans. The 27-year-old has made a name for himself by launching baseballs into the stratosphere, but his defensive ability in right field is also a huge asset for the Yankees.
Judge enjoyed perhaps the best defensive season of his career in 2019, and for that, he was named the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year in right field Wednesday.
Despite missing time to injury, Judge ranked near the top among right fielders in outs above average with eight and contributed a 91 percent catch percentage, according to Statcast™.
The slugger also set career-highs in defensive runs saved and UZR; his 19 defensive runs saved were tied for first among right fielders (minimum 600 innings) across baseball despite Judge's time spent on the IL.
