Boone To Co-host Weekly Episode Of ‘Talkin’ Yanks’ Throughout MLB Season
Jomboy Media, the New York-based multimedia sports and entertainment company founded by Jimmy O’Brien, announced the signing of New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone to be a regular co-host of Talkin’ Yanks during the upcoming MLB season.
Each week, beginning Sunday, March 26 and continuing throughout the MLB regular season, Boone will join hosts O'Brien and partner Jake Storiale on Talkin’ Yanks, Jomboy Media’s flagship show and one of the top ranked baseball podcasts in the U.S., according to Chartable.
Quote from Yankees manager Aaron Boone: “You have to respect what Jimmy, Jake and the team at Jomboy Media have created. They are innovators in this business and have built a massive, younger following. Even more important, I believe they’re good guys who truly love our team. Sure, they’re misguided every now and then, but this is my chance to set them straight every week.”
Quote from founder Jimmy O’Brien: “We’re humbled to think that Talkin’ Yanks started as two buddies with a couple cheap microphones and now we’ll be talking each week to the manager of the New York Yankees. It’s surreal, but the tone of the show will remain the same. We know our role is to be the voice of the fan. None of this would be possible without our community always supporting us and helping us continue to grow.”
O’Brien and Storiale have leveraged their social media presence to grow Jomboy Media into one of the most sought-after multimedia entertainment brands that focuses on the creation (and distribution) of original content for podcasts, television shows, remotes and new IP.
The addition of Boone comes following the 2022 announcement of a $5M financing fundraise which was led by Connect Ventures, an investment partnership between leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and global venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA).
In May 2022, Connect Ventures was joined as investors in Jomboy Media by the WWE, as well as Quinn Cook, Billy Crystal, Josh Hader, Alexis Ohanian, C.C. Sabathia, Noah Syndergaard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Trea Turner, Gabrielle Union, and Dwyane Wade.
Jomboy Media has had a rocket-like trajectory, both in engagement and revenue, and continues to be the #1 brand for baseball content on the internet and social with over 1.7M subscribers on YouTube. At present, Jomboy Media produces and distributes four of the top 15 baseball podcasts, according to Chartable.
O’Brien’s ‘Breakdown’ videos frequently amass over 1M views on YouTube and Twitter. The Talkin’ Baseball podcast anchored by O’Brien, Jake Storiale and former MLB player and investor Trevor Plouffe has been the #1 podcast in baseball since the 2020 playoffs and through 2021 and 2022.
