BROOKLYN -- The Brooklyn Nets debuted their 2020-21 Classic Edition uniform on-court for the first-time Thursday in a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers at 7:30 p.m. EST at Barclays Center. Originally worn 30 years ago, this season’s Classic Edition uniform is a throwback to the fan-favorite “tie-dye” uniform worn during the 1990-91 NBA season.

To commemorate this moment, beginning this morning the Nets will elevate the 1990-91 season across their social media channels, featuring highlight videos and trivia as well as a contest where fans can enter to win a Derrick Coleman jersey. Additionally, Coleman will host an Instagram Live takeover during the second quarter of the game.

The Nets launched the 1990s with an aesthetic reset, introducing a refreshed logo along with these new uniforms, and the 1990-91 season was the beginning of a memorable era for the franchise. The Nets drafted Coleman with the first overall pick in 1990, Kenny Anderson second overall in 1991, and in between acquired sharpshooter Drazen Petrovic, sparking a run to three straight playoff appearances. While the “tie-dye” jersey lasted just a single season before the Nets opted to replace it with a more modest royal blue, the logo and jersey lettering they introduced in 1990 carried through the 1996-97 season, defining that era.

As the presenting sponsor of the Nets Classic Edition Platform, Michelob ULTRA has unveiled a custom logo lock-up to commemorate the first time the Nets’ Classic Edition uniforms will be worn on-court. This logo lock-up will be integrated into exclusive digital and social content during games that the team wears its Classic Edition uniforms, and Michelob ULTRA will be elevated through other, additional ancillary programs with exclusive ULTRA-themed giveaways.

The Nets Classic Edition jersey and shorts are currently available for purchase online at www.netsstore.com.
