The New York Yankees have announced details regarding a prostate cancer screening, which will be open to guests attending the team’s Thursday, Sept. 12, 7:05 p.m. game vs. Boston.
Beginning when Stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. and lasting through the early innings of the game, these PSA blood tests will take place in private booths on the 200-Level Concourse in between the New Era Team Store and Section 223.
All screenings are free and “walk-up” -- reservations are not required. However, fans should note that they will need a valid ticket for Thursday’s Yankees-Red Sox game to enter Yankee Stadium.
The screening will be led by Dr. Mark P. Schoenberg, Chair-Department of Urology, and his Urology team at Montefiore Einstein, the official hospital of the New York Yankees. This annual event is offered to guests prior to one home game each season and takes place in September to mark National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The screening is open to all New York Yankees employees, Yankee Stadium Legends Hospitality staff members, Yankee Stadium Securitas officers and NYPD prior to the gates opening to guests.
“With early detection and the advancement in treatment options, most men diagnosed with prostate cancer go on to live long and productive lives,” said Ed Randall, Founder and Chief Advocacy Officer of Fans for the Cure. “Since there are rarely symptoms, a PSA test at age 47 is a big reason why I am here today.”
Fans for the Cure (www.fansforthecure.org) is participating in its thirteenth prostate cancer screening in collaboration with the Yankees. The charity will be returning from Seattle, where they participated in a screening with the Mariners and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
