YES to televise a record 19 New York Liberty games this season

First YES telecast is May 14 against Indiana

All YES telecasts will also be streamed live on YES App

May 7, 2021 – The YES Network will televise a record 19 New York Liberty games this season, the first being Friday, May 14 (7 p.m. ET), when the Liberty take on Indiana. All of YES’ 19 Liberty telecasts will also be streamed live on the YES App. Chris Shearn and Michael Grady will share play-by-play duties, while Julianne Viani-Braen will handle analysis. This is YES’ third season as the Liberty’s exclusive regional TV partner.

Entering its 25th WNBA season, the Liberty will be led by transcendent star Sabrina Ionescu, who will be back on the court after suffering a season-ending ankle injury early last season. The much-heralded Ionescu was the WNBA’s #1 overall draft pick in 2020 after completing a college career which saw her become the only NCAA Division I player to record 2,000 points, 1000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

Ionescu will be joined by Liberty veteran Layshia Clarendon, along with Natasha Howard and Sami Whitcomb, both of whom were acquired via trade this past off-season. Betnijah Laney, the WNBA’s Most Improved Player last season, is also expected to play a major role, as is Jazmine Jones, who earned a spot on the 2020 WNBA All-Rookie Team.

Among the rookies looking to make their mark this season is Michaela Onyenwere, the sixth overall WNBA 2021 draft pick who led UCLA to the Sweet Sixteen earlier this year.
