The Yankees made four moves in their Minor League system on Thursday, with one player moving up, one moving down, and two moving on.

Pitcher Mark Montgomery is moving up, as the Florida State League All-Star has been promoted to Double-A Trenton. The 21-year-old fireballer, who was the Yankees’ 11th-round pick in 2010, was 4-1 with a 1.34 ERA, 14 saves, and 61 strikeouts in 40.1 IP for Class-A Advanced Tampa, and was one of the T-Yanks’ three representatives in June’s FSL All-Star Game.

For his career, Montgomery has a 14.7 K/9 ratio and 29 saves in 57 games at three levels.

As for down and out, the team announced that outfielder Darnell McDonald, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday after playing four games with the Yankees, has cleared waivers and been assigned to Triple-A Empire State. He will replace pitcher Nelson Figueroa on the Empire State roster, as the 38-year-old righty was released from his contract. Figueroa, who pitched for the Mets in 2008 and 2009, was 7-2 with a 3.96 ERA in 17 games (nine starts) for the Baby Bombers this season.

Also apparently moving on is outfielder Dan Brewer, as Trenton Thunder beat writer Mike Ashmore reported that Brewer has been traded to the Atlanta Braves organization. Brewer, 24, hit .221 in 27 games at Trenton earlier this year, and played four games with the Rookie-Level GCL Yankees last week while rehabbing an injury.
