Studs:
Alex Rodriguez:
So much for the postseason monkey on his back. With one swing of the bat, A-Rod gave the Yankees new life in Game Two, with his two-run bomb to center field off of Joe Nathan tying the game at three. It wasn't the first time in the game that Rodriguez brought the Yankees back. His single to left field knotted the game at one in the sixth after Minnesota had grabbed the lead in the top of the frame.

Mark Teixeira: A-Rod set him up and Mark Teixeira slammed it home, with his shot down the left field line barely making it over the fence for the walkoff home run. Teixeira had scuffled before the ninth, leaving runners on first and second with one out in the sixth. But his single in the ninth extended the inning for A-Rod, and his shot to left gave the Yankees a commanding 2-0 lead in the ALDS.

Brendan Harris: Harris wasn't even in the starting lineup for Game Two but made the most of his midgame appearance, knocking in Minnesota's first run with a long triple to left field that nearly left the yard. Harris was at the center of Minnesota's rally in the eighth as well, as his single off of Phil Hughes kept the line moving in the tie-breaking frame. Harris even contributed with the glove at third base, taking a sure double away from Derek Jeter in the bottom of the eighth with a diving stop on the line.

Duds:
Joe Nathan:
Don't be surprised if Joe Nathan is the first person out of Yankee Stadium tonight. It's clear that he can't stand to be there. The Twins closer, already with a shaky resume against the Yankees (career against New York: 0-3, 4.20 ERA) and in the playoffs (7.50 ERA in six innings), not only gave up the game-tying home run to A-Rod, but also kept the Yankees' rally going in the bottom of the tenth. His pickoff attempt at second base went wild, sending Brett Gardner to third, ending his night and nearly costing Minnesota the game.

Carlos Gomez: On the surface, Gomez' night is bad enough -- 0-4 with two strikeouts -- but it was his critical baserunning gaffe in the fourth inning that hurt the most. With two on and two out, Matt Tolbert hit a line drive that should've scored Minnesota's first run. But as Delmon Young was rounding third and heading home, Gomez tripped going past second and, instead of continuing towards third to allow Young to score before the out was recorded, scrambled back to the bag. Nick Swisher's throw beat him there, and Young's run was erased by the mistake.

The Yankee outfield: Johnny Damon, Melky Cabrera and Nick Swisher were solid defensively, with Swisher making a diving catch in the top of the ninth to steal a hit away from the Twins. But the three outfielders combined to go 0-12 on the night, with the biggest misses coming from Damon, who played Brendan Harris' liner into a triple in the sixth and lined into a double play in the bottom of the tenth with runners on first and third.
