YES Network's SportsLife NYC
Sports and human interest stories coming togetherOur first segment takes us inside the rough world of Roller Derby with the Gotham Girls of New York City. Forget the old days of planned fights and hits. This sport is real and starting to get some serious attention.
Next, we learn about commentator and author Jimmy Roberts. Roberts' new book, "Breaking the Slump" takes us inside the world of athletes' darkest moments and what one can do to break out of a funk.
Also, we join the baseball team at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The Owls' dedication to their sport is truly fascinating. Being located in Maine is by no means ideal, yet they play out every season with as much determination as any other team despite having not had a home game in more than four years.
Last, we check out the St. John's lacrosse team. This squad has struggled in the past, but with a new crop of players (from the lacrosse heartland of Long Island) and a whole new outlook, the season and future is looking bright.
